4′ x 4′ Jetted Power Pak™ Hot Tub Package

Our 4' diameter x 4' high cedar (43" interior depth) hot tub is the is the next step up from the 4x3. While the 4x3 is really a one-person ofuro style tub, the 4x4 can legitimately hold two people although it is still a bit cramped. The extra foot of depth allows you to sit upright with your legs at right angles so there is less competition for leg room than in the 4x3. If you have limited space and the tub is generally going to be used by two people who don't mind being cozy in the tub, this is a good choice.

Heat rates are generally only of concern when heating up a fresh tub of water. Any of the heat options will provide rapid heating in this size tub. A 10kW electric heater will heat it about 15˚/hour and a 5.5kW heater will heat about 8˚/hour. Gas heating rates are off the charts for this size tub. A 125,000 BTU gas heater will heat it about 46˚/hr!

The Power Pak™ Control System

This hot tub package is controlled and heated by our Power Pak™ system. The Power Pak™ system is made to our specifications by Hydro Quip. It is a digital system that uses the electronics of Balboa's newest control system integrated in a weather proof unit and is UL listed as a complete unit. It is designed for those who want the best in digital control systems in a weather proof design and that is UL listed as a complete pre-assembled equipment skid.

You have a choice of heating options, 5kW or 10kW electric heat, 125,000 BTU gas (LP or NG) heat. And, now you can get the most energy efficient heat pump out there, the Balboa Clim8zone 6.3kW heat pump. It will heat the hot tub water with an ambient air temperature as low as -4F.

The Clim8zone is typically paired with either our 5.5kW or 10kW Power Pak™. It can be sold with a Power Pak™ that has no auxiliary heating capacity, but this should only be used in very mild climates. Like all heat pumps, the heating power of the Clim8zone declines the colder the ambient temperature.

UL listed as a complete unit

The Power Pak™ is the only equipment system on the market that is UL listed as a complete unit. An increasing number of states and localities are requiring that factory assembled skid packs be listed as a complete unit.

If you will be pulling a permit for your installation, you should check local codes and/or discuss with your electrician before deciding what type of equipment system to purchase. Having an inspector red tag an installation isn't a good situation.

All Power Pak™ equipment skids come pre-assembled ready for your electrician to connect. Also included are a locking vinyl wrapped insulating foam cover, a full spectrum (copper, silver and zinc) ionizer for sanitation, 4 jets, 2 code compliant suction fittings, and all flex hose and plumbing parts needed to locate the skid up to 20' away from the hot tub.

Classic, Beautiful, All-Wood Hot Tub

All our wood hot tubs are made in the USA of hand selected Western Red Cedar that exceeds the industry's toughest standards. We start with A and Better, clear, all heart Western Red Cedar. Even that standard allows for imperfections that we cull out when selecting our staves and bottom boards. The staves, like the bottom boards, are precision-milled to +0.005” to ensure a perfect fit. You're guaranteed long-lasting quality, strength, performance, and beauty.

Vertical Grain Upgrade;

The quality and performance of our hot tubs never varies, BUT wood is a natural product and there can be some aesthetic variations even within the premium grade we use. Our typical tub is about two-thirds, or more, vertical grain boards. But, if you choose our Premium Vertical Grain Upgrade, we will hand-inspect and hand-select every single piece of wood that goes into your hot tub to meet that standard and get as close to a perfect grain as Mother Nature allows.

Premium Stainless Steel Bands

We offer stainless steel bands and connectors on all of our hot tubs. Stainless bands, in addition to being more attractive than traditional black iron hoops offer many advantages. When assembling the tub and tightening the bands, the bands draw much more evenly against the staves all around the tub than do rigid iron or even stainless hoops, making assembly easier.

Stainless offers a zero-maintenance advantage, too. Real wood "moves" and every 6 or 7 years your tub will need a “tune up” (reseating the staves and tightening the bands). Stainless won’t rust or corrode so the nuts and threads remain clean, rust-free, and easily adjustable.

The bands are made from 316 stainless steel. The 316 alloy provides the maximum corrosion protection against, water, chemicals and salt.
