About Snorkel Hot Tubs: Crafting Quality Cedar Tubs Since 1979

The Snorkel® Stove was originally developed in a physics laboratory at the University of Alaska by Roger Evans. The purpose was to create an efficient wood burning water heater that would provide the luxury of hot tubbing in areas without electricity and require minimum maintenance. Several designs were tested and the best, named Snorkel® Stove because most of it except the feed door and the air intake are under water, was installed in a cabin just outside Fairbanks.

The original stove became so popular that everyone who visited the little cabin with the wood fired hot tub wanted one of their own. After making stoves to meet the demand of friends and neighbors, their popularity continued to grow and the company was formed in 1979.

Hot Tubbing for Everyone

We think we have hot tub for just about every need and every situation.  Our wood-fired hot tubs bring the luxury of hot tubbing to just about any location  you can imagine.  All you need is wood, water and a match for a warm relaxing soak.  Our conventionally heated systems offer a choice of gas heat, electric heat or a cost saving heat pump that offers the ability to both heat and chill your hot tub.

Whether your hot tub has a mountain vista, overlooks a majestic inland sea, is nestled in a forest or, like most of us, is in your own cozy backyard, Snorkel Hot Tubs offer something for each experience.
