Control System Options Overview
The control system you choose is the heart of how your hot tub functions
We offer two choices of control systems for your hot tub, the Power Pak™ and the Classic Pak™.
Each is designed for different needs and circumstances.
POWER PAK™
The heart of Power Pak™ is the BP601, the latest digital control system from Balboa. It offers all the bells and whistles you would expect of a modern digital system. It is made to our specifications by HydroQuip, Inc., a leading provider of premium spa and bath equipment systems since 1981.
CLASSIC PAK™
The Classic Pak™ is based on the old reliable Intermatic 24/7 timer. It is a simple, no-frills system that has been used for controlling swimming pools and hot tubs for decades. The Classic Pak™ is the perfect option if you want a lower cost option and/or if you are in a rural/remote location where access to pool and spa technicians for maintenance and support is limited or nonexistent.
The Classic Pak™ should also be considered if you are using solar power. Many residential solar systems produce power that is a little substandard, to the point where digital systems may not work well with it.
Both the Classic Pak™ and the Power Pak™ are outdoor rated with a minimum of a NEMA 3R or IP14 rating. The Power Pak™ is the only system on the market that is also UL listed as a complete skid, a requirement in many states and local jurisdictions.
