The Snorkel® Stove is the larger of our two models of wood burning hot tub heater. It has a heat output of 120,000 BTUs, the largest of any stove on the market. It can raise the temperature of our most popular hot tub size, the 6×3 with 470 gallons, by 30 degrees per hour. A significant part of the heating capacity of the stove is due to its aluminum body which conducts heat 16 times faster than stainless steel.
The Snorkel® Stove is powder coated to protect it from minerals in water. Even the highest marine grade aluminum, which is fine in salt water, is susceptible to penetrative corrosion by calcium and magnesium which are naturally occurring in many water supplies. Without the powder coat protection, water that has even moderate levels of calcium or magnesium can eat through unprotected aluminum in one or two years.
The Snorkel Stove requires a minimum of 30″ of water to operate. It will not fit in any standard stock tank. The Scuba Stove requires only 20″ of water and will fit in most stock tanks.
The firebox of the Snorkel® Stove is huge and can easily accommodate standard cut firewood (length 16″). The firebox will hold firewood of up to 26″ in length flat on the bottom and up to 36″ on the diagonal. The latter measurement is largely for illustrative purposes as firewood isn’t generally placed in that manner.
The Snorkel® Stove comes complete with stove door lid, fence and all mounting hardware.
